The 16th Annual Plant Nerd Night will be sponsored by the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon, the Rogerson Clematis Collection, and Salem Hardy Plant Society and hosted by our own Mike Darcy (read Mike’s latest BG article here). The popular regional event is designed to appeal to true “plant nerds” and features hot new plants and many rare plants from a suite of local nurseries. 

The 16th Annual Plant Nerd Night will take place on Friday, March 3 at the Lake Bible Church, corner of Kruse Road and Carman Drive in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Doors open at 6 p.m., program begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Black Gold will offer event attendees free bags of Natural & Organic Potting Mix to help get their new plants off to a great start. I hope to see you there!

Presented each year by AmericanHort, Cultivate is one of the biggest and best national shows for horticultural professionals, and Black Gold and Sun Gro Horticulture will be proud to be there! This growing trade show,  education series, and networking event is both fun and professionally rewarding for attendees. This year’s event will be held in Columbus, Ohio from July 15-18. The keynote speaker will be Jon Gordon, author of the Energy Bus. Sun Gro and Black Gold will share space at the Solutions Marketplace with over 700 companies displaying their new and innovative products and services.

For 15 years the Gustin Creative Group has put on the best spring and fall gardening events in the Pacific Northwest, Gardenpalooza. Sun Gro Horticulture and Black Gold are always proud to take part. The 2017 spring Gardenpalooza event will take place on Saturday, April 1st from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and will be held at Fir Point Farms in Aurora, Oregon. Over 40 vendors will be featured. Great garden plants are always the highlight, but gardeners can also find great soils, tools, garden art, and more! Fresh donuts and other great food offerings will be available at the Fir Point Farms Country Store.

The 24th Annual McDonald Garden Center Outdoor Show will be held at the Virginia Beach garden center location on Independence Boulevard. This popular regional event will occur from Friday to Sunday, March 3-5, 2017 and host lots of local green-industry businesses in addition to some not-so-local businesses, such as Sun Gro Horticulture. Get the latest and greatest in landscaping, gardening, remodeling, and outdoor decorating ideas. Live demonstrations will be given throughout the event, and lots of great plants and garden materials will be presented at this spring preview.

This year the World Ag Expo celebrates 50 years! Held from February 14-16, 2017 in Tulare, CA, this massive event is the world’s largest agricultural exposition.  It highlights over 1,500 exhibitors in the horticulture and agricultural industries on 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space.  The event will also present educational seminars directed towards agribusiness professionals. Sun Gro Horticulture and Black Gold will be there.

Black Gold and Sun Gro Horticulture will be at this year’s Chesapeake Green 2017. This Horticulture Symposium is a two-day event made possible by the Maryland Landscape and Nursery Association. This year it will be held from February 23-24, 2017 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD. The two-day event will offer outstanding educational and networking opportunities in addition to a vendor showcase, and silent auction.
